Acne is caused by blocked hair follicles in our skin. We do not know exactly why these blockages occur. We do know how they occur but scientists are debating what the causes of these blockages are. Another thing that doctors and scientists find very strange is why some people are more severe hit by acne than others. Even different members of the same family may be hit very differently. Acne usually first occur in, or shortly after, puberty. Why this happens we do not know but the growth of the sebaceous glands at this time is considered to play a major role in this.
